Maths Confidence for Years 5 & 6

Small-group maths tuition that builds understanding, confidence, and

strong foundations for Year 5, Year 6 and beyond.

At Mr C’s Tutoring Hub, children don’t just practise questions.
They learn how to approach maths, why methods work, and how to feel

confident tackling new challenges.

Taught by an experienced Year 6 teacher:
I’ve spent over 15 years teaching maths in the classroom, supporting

children of all abilities to build confidence and succeed — especially

in the run-up to SATs and secondary school.

Sessions run reliably week after week, with cancellations only in

exceptional circumstances.

Who this is for:

  • Parents of Year 5 and Year 6 children

  • Children who:

    • Lack confidence in maths

    • Are capable but not yet secure

    • Need structured support heading into Year 6 and beyond.

    • Are aiming for Greater Depth or stronger SATs outcomes

  • Families looking for consistent, calm support, not last-minute fixes

Why parents choose Mr C’s Tutoring Hub

Small groups. Real attention.
Groups are capped at five children, allowing for personalised support

without  the pressure of 1:1 tutoring.

Focused maths teaching.
Sessions concentrate on the key knowledge, methods, and reasoning

skills children need in Years 5 and 6 — building secure foundations and

confidence.

Confidence before content.
Children learn in a supportive environment where questions are

encouraged and mistakes are part of learning.

Extra support included.
Optional holiday sessions are included for members, helping children

stay confident and prepared.

How the tutoring works

  • Join a small maths group

Year 5 and Year 6 groups are organised by ability and capped at five.

  • Weekly structured maths sessions will focus fully on learning

Lessons follow a clear routine so children know what to expect and

       can fully focus on learning.

  • Ongoing support and practice

Targeted tasks help reinforce learning and build confidence between

        sessions.

  • Optional holiday sessions included

Extra support during school holidays to consolidate learning and

       prepare for what’s next.

Why Small-Group Tutoring Works

  • Children learn by explaining, not just listening
Small groups encourage children to talk through ideas, explain their

        thinking, and build real understanding.

  • Confidence grows when children realise they’re not alone
Working alongside peers reduces pressure and helps children feel

        more comfortable asking questions.

  • Individual attention without the intensity of 1:1
Groups are kept small (maximum of five), so every child is seen,

  • supported and challenged appropriately.

Why Online Tutoring Works

  • Focused learning from home
No travel, no rushing — just calm, consistent learning in a familiar

       environment.

  • Interactive teaching, not passive screen time
Live explanations, shared whiteboards, discussion, and instant

       feedback keep lessons engaging.

  • Recordings for revision and reassurance
Sessions can be revisited to reinforce learning and build confidence.

“David tutored our daughter for a couple of years in the build up to her SATs. He helped her gain confidence and ensured she felt ready for the tests. This also gave her confidence going into high school."
